Announcements and News

The Town of Estill is proud to recognize Col. Yolanda Gore, a native of Hampton County and a graduate of Estill High School, for being the first female commander to lead the Army's second-largest post in its 107-year history.

On August 27, 2024, the Estill Nutrition Center held an open house to celebrate the new building addition at the Estill location. The Town of Estill would like to thank the center and Hampton County Administrator Lavar Youman for presenting the town with a token of appreciation for using the Bull Durham Facility while the building was under construction. We are proud of the value added by our seniors.

The Town of Estill Welcomes its newest and returning Council Member, James "Buzz" Williams.

"The Future Looks Bright""Happening in your Town"

On 8/14/2024, the Town of Estill Mayor and Council voted to partner with United Hands for Global Impact, Inc. (UHGI) to begin exploring potential investors for the Phase 1 project under "Project Green Spark." The Phase 1 Project includes both revenue-generating and public projects owned by the Town of Estill.

Revenue-generating projects are projects that the Town will own, and a portion of the revenue generated will be used for them. These projects tentatively include:
- 20MW Solar Farm
- 200,000 sqft. Hydroponic Facility
- 75 Workforce Housing units

Public projects are those that have a direct public benefit, including:
- Drinking Water Study (Brown Water)
- Fire Department Renovation
- Public Work Facility
- Renovated Town Hall
- Community Building Renovation (Bull Durham)
- Complete Playground Renovation
- Off-Road Parking Lot in the rear of the New Police Station
- Main Street Revitalization Project
- Retro-Fit for a New Recreation and Entertainment Center (Potential Gifted Property)
- Water Park

The Phase 1 lists are subject to change based on the final project approval by the Mayor and Town Council.

Although we are in the early stages of this process, we are positioning ourselves to move the Town forward without increasing taxes.
